i THINK i was told by someone here that you can actually use a color
monitor, but wired up differently to make it work. I own a 4 player
Football and Soccer, so i one day may have to find something to replace
their original bw monitors also.

You can wire in a colour monitor to replace a B&W BUT you need to
understand the difference. Also (of course) you need to make sure it
will fit first! And an isolation transformer. Then you choose which
colour will be which team and the background. Takes a bit of
fiddling....and you need to sort out the sync.
I wouldn't attempt it if I wasn't somewhat familiar with monitor wiring
and logic board theory. (I have done it with an Atari Sprint II and
that was fun!)
