Radeon X850XT problem

I'm building my own computer right now and I want this nasty video card that costs $480 at this web site:

However, I can buy the video card itself for only $355, but I wouldn't be getting the necessary wires needed for hookup. The Disc I can get from my brother who recently bought the same video card. I'm pretty sure all I need is a power splitter that connects the Vid Card and Hard Drive to the Power Supply. Would this power splitter work:

There are other cables there that I would be missing and I'm not sure if I would need them or not. I am new at this and don't know much about computers so please post a reply or email me at Dbergger@nycap.rr.com if your too lazy to register

I would reccomand that card.
Depending on the resolution at wich you play and wether you use AA and AF, a 7800GT would be faster in almsot any games especially when playing at 1600X1200 and adding Anisotropic and AntiAlaising...

Plus the GT can be found at 400 with a nice bundle!

WHat is your current system BTW?

Ok, I understand about half the stuff you said about your system but anyway heres mine: Athlon 64 4000+, Abit Fatal1ty An8-SLi, 2x512 Corsair XMS 2.5-3-3-6, (VC not chosen yet) and I think thats all your askin for....
Keep in mind I haven't purchased any of this yet so if you have suggestions feel free to state em.

I have looked at some of the 7800's, for the most part they tend to have a faster memory clock speed and a slower core clock. What this means I don't know, but if you think 7800 is the way to go then ill go for it.

Also, for the 7800's in my price range, if I could get this X850XT I think it would be alot better

A few games run better on a X850XT and a low resolution. All this Anti-ALiasing(removes jagged edge) Anisotropic FIltering(improves the quality off the outputed images, crisper more details...) are some feature that help improves the visual experience.

When using these and higher resolution, the 7800GT is usually ahead in all games and some by a good marging! Plus its less expansive!

If you want to go ATI, no problem that is a really good card, just rember that ATI's next generation is just around the corner and that NOW for a bit less money, you can have "nVidia's next gen"...

Actually, thx to you i did some more searching and I found a 7800GTX for $550 but it comes with motherboard free so I save money and get a top of the line vid card. Problem solved

Lol, I didnt see the Cash is not a concern anywhere so I didnt recommand that .

If you're not that much in a hurry, ATI's next gen is suppose to come out late september/early October.

When that happens, nVidia might respond with a 7800Ultra...

I dont usually recommand to wait in this business but so close too the release date, I have to mention it! BUT if you get a good deal for the GTX/mobo and you're happy with the performance you will get, then go for it!
