I have a Dell Dimension 8200, Intel Pentium 2.4 Ghz, 512 MB RAM (will be upgraded to 1 GB in October), AGP 4x, and power supply of:
Wattage
250 W

Heat dissipation
534 BTU (fully-loaded computer without monitor)

Voltage (switch-selectable
on back panel)
90 to 135 V at 60 Hz; 180 to 265 V at 50 Hz;
100 V at 50 to 60 Hz for Japanese computers

Backup battery
3-V CR2032 coin cell

Other system specs are available at:
http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim8200/specs.htm#1101572

I have been looking at a 6800 or 6800GT for around 200-225$. Will these cards work fine on my computer?

Thanks a lot.

NO your power supply is not enough. You need at least 350 watt name brand ,Fortron, Antec True Power(NOT Smart power), Sparkle (With FSP in the model number)
If you buy cheap MAX power rated supplys ,you will need at least 400watt fot the 6800 and 500watt or more for the 6800GT.
You can find more recomendations in the power supply,PC cases, case mod section.

I aint signing nothing!!!

I also have a Dell 2.4G Pentium 4 with 512 RAM. However my power supply is higher. Anyways I just put a 6800 in and it works fine. Though I do need to upgrade the RAM like you are doing because with Battlefield 2, when I try to crank the settings the frame rate is awful.

So once you up the power supply, and the RAM, the rest of your system specs should work. A 6800GT might be overkill on that system. Either a 6800 or 6600GT is probably as high as you and I should go with our systems.

That power supply will likely cause lockups and crashes with a new, power hungry videocard.

Definitely go for a name-brand 350w, or at the very least a generic 450w. But the name brand PSU will be better, regardless of wattage ratings.
