Hi
I have an Asus AX800XT which is a full on Platinum Addition, AGP card.
I've just replaced my ageing Radeon 9700 Pro, which has served me incredibly well.
I've upgraded various components in the last couple of years, and the rig is now as follows
MSI K7N2 Nforce2 400mhz FSB
Athlon XP3200+
2x512mb GEIL Dual Channel mem sticks
X800 XT PE 256mb AGP
Audigy
Windows XP SP2
Well, I know I shouldnt even bother, but I did - I benchmarked on 3D Mark 2001, just as I know that above rig with the 9700 Pro at 3 years old, was pushing out 16224 points. I just wanted to make a comparison, so I ran it up with the new card.
It made 18,958 points.
Not a significant improvement at all, considering the differences in card spec, and the x4agp v x8agp.
I have upgraded to the latest Catalyst 5.8 drivers, but surely I should have been seeing 20k+. To be honest, I was expecting 22k+
Any ideas please? Whats the bottleneck?
Thanks
Vin
