My friend is going to get a bunch of money from one of his mom's rich friends who is into computer artistry. Money really isn't any object, he wants to build the best computer he can at a semi-reasonable price though. I imagine he'd want to stay under $3000. I haven't been keeping up to much on computers lately, could one of you computer gurus give me a suggestion on what he should get. He wants to go AMD, probably SLI maybe 7800?, and he already has a mid-size case.

I also should have added that he does a lot of video editing and stuff, so if Intel or something is the better way to go for that type of stuff, feel free to suggest whatever.

You think the two Floppy drives are overkill?

OH! SDRAM on a P90! Time to break out the TX chipset!

Because we all know about the VX having the 32MB/slot limitation. Wait, you did say 32MB, never mind.

Nah its good but the SD RAM is overkill, EDO RAM is fine.

Not really good for anything but you cant help smile when you see one tumble down the stairs.

Looks like VX is the way forward.

Watercooling?

Well, he did say money isn't a limiting factor, so - Phazechange the GPU's / CPU and water cool the floppy drives / CD rom / RAM.

depending on what you do, the hard drive can the configured many different ways.

water cooling... yum

i would say stay away from phasechange, its too much hassle about condensation, plus, if he needs help with the basics... i would say STAY away from phasechange, if you don't want to blow up your computer or somehting
