I have 4Gb of memory in my PC but windows only sees 3Gb

I have been told that this is because i am running 2 Nvidia 7800GTX Cards in SLI mode. I have asked the vendor who i bought my hardware from about this and they informed me that running SLI takes up a portion of of your memory but if i remove 1Gb Windows still reports 3Gb.

I have tried each memory module individually and can confirm all are working properly. If it helps i am using a MSI P4N Diamond Motherboard

Does anyone have any ideas or can anyone confirm what the shop has told me about SLI and memory usage?

Some motherboards will only see 3 Gb of memory. I know this is true for AMD, not sure on the P4. Check the motherboard manual and see if it says anything.

I've checked the manual about 20 times incase i missed something. To be honest, the manual is crap for a board that cost so much.

Not SLI, and not uncommon.

2 different types of reasons;

Check with MoBo MFR support site first.

Why the hell would you want 4GB of RAM when it's not even supported by XP, and makes most programs run slower?
