I'm in the < $1500 price range and I'm looking for something along these lines:

P4M
512mb ram
nice screen, at least 14"
802.11 b/g wireless
32 mb video card

I at least need this stuff, I would like to have a 64mb vid card and dvd on it as well. Mobility is important, so I'd like it to be durable and light. I'd really like to be in the 1200 range but can go up to 1500. I've been looking at Dell's (d600 and 8600), but I'm really buying into the IBM hype and am interested in a thinkpad, but can't find any good deals on them that meet my specs. Can anyone offer suggestions or solutions? Other brands, etc.

Thanks

Yea, it'd be great if I could get all that stuff in my price range. Any good brands I should be looking at that will have that and keep me under 1500?

Pentium-M, 14-15" LCD, 512MB, 32MB Vid, any size 7200rpm drive (if too expensive, than any size 5400rpm drive), DVD/CD-R/RW combo and wotever else u want. Wi-Fi might be useless to you, so i won't suggest it.
zpyrd is 100% correct in all that he mentioned about the P4-m, and the mobile Pentium 4 is even worse, and the pentium 4 is the worst.

Compaq, Dell are the only two notebook manufacturers I would consider if you are looking for low price, but excellent value.

eMachines. Don't consider any less for your price range and the performance you want. eMachines makes a VERY upgradeable, powerful, and CHEAP notebook. Go Look or you'll be sorry you wasted your 1500 :)
