I think I must have a bad board on one side of my Indy 500. I posted
earlier about the problem and received several great thoughts from a
lot of people(Thank You) I reseated the board and all the roms, and
still no luck with the graphics working correctly on this one.(they
worked before I moved the machine to my house) Please email me or
contact me with any leads as to buying a boardset (just one side) for
this game. Also I dont know if I need the entire boardset or maybe just
one of the three baords is bad (or maybe roms?), but if you want the
boardset I have in return (to help offset some of my cost), I would be
more than willing to do that as well. Please let me know what you have
and what you would like to get for the boardset. I think from looking
around at previous posts, I am hoping to be in the 100-200 dollar
range.(Although price is definitely negotiable) Thanks Again...Tim

I hate to tell you Tim, but it's probably going to cost a good bit more then
that... I had a ROM board repaired and it nearly cost $200 just to get it
fixed.

A full working boardset (without the comms board) is likely to be 300+ (the
last one I saw on e-bay was a year ago and it went for $295) (which is why I
had my rom board fixed).

I have a full twin with two working boards (it just has a ground current
issue, happens with everything unplugged so theres a short somewhere) that
I've been trying to sell for $800 as is (I really don't feel like working on
it any longer.. it was working except for the right side force feedback
until I went to take pictures to sell it... grr...).

I'm hoping not to have to part it out (the parts are worth more then $800,
but as it's almost there it'd be a shame to scrap a working one).

If I do decide to part it out I'll let you know...

steve

ps: anyone want an Indy 500 Twin in the NJ area for $800?

I just paid $900 for this one and it was working (with the exception of
the right side wheel, had bad pots) and then when I got it home, I get
this problem...I share your frustration tremendously. This one is
actually a gift for the local Boys & Girls Club here, I am a network
admin here and wanted to give one of the clubs something really cool
for their members to enjoy in their game room besides Xbox.(Arcades
don't really seem to exist in their lives like they did in mine) I
thought I was going to be able to get it home, clean it, fix the pots,
and bring it to them this week....Guess they will have to wait a little
bit now....I have never had a problem with moving machines before, but
after I drilled out the lock mechs on the seat (no keys of course) I
found the the Cpu chassis wasn't attached to anything and was probably
shaking around pretty good on my trailer.....I wasnt sure as far as
price went because I wasnt sure which boards (if all of them) needed
replaced/repaired...That is obviously why I stated negotiable... Please
let me know if you want to part your out, i would definitely be
interested.....Tim

That's the same situation I found myself in... I bought a Twin off e-bay for
$1500 + another $350 shipping... got it to my house... the right side almost
the same problems as yours... and wouldnt' you know it it was completely
free in the seat and must have bounced around all over the damn place during
shipping...

Unfortunatly this was intended to be a x-mas gift for my kids and it was no
late november... I ended up buying a *second* Indy Twin (with a guarantee
this time, they shipped it themselves) as there was just not enough time
left to fix the first.

After a lot of work (and a few houndred more) I had the first one working
almost perfectly (except for right side feedback), took some pictures and
now petooe... all that I did was slide the one cab to the right to connect
them....

so I have basically $2K into the machine at this point and just want to get
rid of it... I figure $800 will at least get me back some garage space for
the winter, but if no one wants it then I'll part it out.

I'll keep you in mind.

best,

steve

Well at least you just have one bad boardset I am collecting model 2
stuff and so far here is where I stand.
Model 2a Dead Or Alive bad tgo rom so two female characters dont
display
Model 2a VF2 bad rom board i switched out with the doa (parts now)
Model 2b Fighting Vipers bad mainboard no 3d (tgp problem)
Model 2b Virtua Striker Bad main board plus sound does not work (rom
board error)

I would be happy enough if i could fix the sound on the Virtua Striker
so that if I got a working mainboard I could play it and fighting
vipers. The DOA can be fixed when i get a rom burner (christmas maybe)
and vf2 is only about 20 bucks on ebay.
