Well guys,
I saw a 7800 PCIe card yesterday for $350. I guess my question is, will it make a huge difference between the 6800 ultra I'm running now??? Has anyone had the pleasure of using one of these guys yet?

I doubt, therefore I might be.

That's a great price and the X1800XL is out not the XT yet.
Edit found a 7800GT for a better price...I read that this is BFG's OEM card don't know if that's true or not. Anyway great deal.

Nice find there; cheapest 7800GT I've seen.

I wasn't so much questioning the deal,, just how much noticeable difference it would make over the 6800 Ultra? If it's only slight, I thought my $ might be better spent on ram or cpu upgrade.

right now running:
AMD 3500+ newcastle I think
2 x 512 corsair xms pair
2x 74GB raptors
pci-e 6800 ultra
asus a8n sli delux MB

maybe the $400 might be better spent on a 3800+/4000+ Venice or 2 x 2 G pair of ram? something like that.

Your rig looks great the way it is. Only you will know if you demand more. Do you play at very high resolution? What monitor do you have? What games need improvement? If you are gaming above 1280x1024 and want to max out AA/AF, then yeah you'd see an improvement in many games.Honestly, your sitting pretty so I'd wait and see how things shape up. For instance, so far COD2 is showing huge gains in a 512MB X1800XT over any 256MB card. IF the 6800U isn't enough, upgrade. Otherwise hold out and see how things are around the holidays with new cards, drivers, and games all around release.

I'm 98% happy with my BFG 6800U OC, but I game at 12x10. If I had a 24" LCD and gamed at 1920x1200, I'd want a more powerful GPU. I went to 2GB of low latency ram which further smoothed out BF2, and upgraded from an A64 3000+ @ 2.2GHz to an A64 4000+ (only becasue I needed a 3000+ for another machine) at stock speeds. Anyway, the cpu/5X HTT/LDT, tight mem timings) helped me gain a few fps in Farcry and NFSu2. I'm NF3 & AGP, but even if it was NF4 I wouldn't upgrade this gen even though I really want a X1800XT  .

There is a performance boost from 6800ultra to 7800gtx but really only in the high-res portions and its not that big. Save your money if you are using 1024x768 and below.
