I've seen something similar on the web some place... except that it was
homebuilt and rotated around in a big circle.. if I remember correctly he
had a sit down (old Indy 500 seat) and about 5 different control banks.
We've all probably thought about doing something similar at one point in
time or another... I'm supprised that it took someone so long to actually
come out with a comercial version (although I wonder how you open it up to
swap out a switch... maybe you don't? I wouldn't put it past the
manufacturer to make it a sealed control panel. It's not designed for
arcade use so the odds of anyone "in the know" actually shelling out $6K
for one is slim).
does look nice though...

The plans for this cabinet with a spinning control panel (or very very
similar at least) are on the web somewhere. I may even have the pdf files
as I downloaded them at some point. I think the idea is superb. The guy
who designed it was very creative and the plans are detailed.

Cool isn't it? I first saw this as his personal project on
www.arcadecontrols.com (primarily a MAME cab forum). There was a lot
of interest so he put it into production.

The inventor of the Spincade, and I am SOO sorry to have forgotten his name after all these years and I actually built one. A working one!! The idea was 100% his. I came across his website, and being an entrepreneur with a flair for the weird and offbeat, I really liked his idea. So I emailed him, long story short, I financed the first build.
We could never get the bugs worked out of the spinning mechanism. It sort of works and it sort of doesnt work. My 10 year old son knows how to get it to spin, I do not.
THE ONLY SPINCADE IN EXISTENCE IN THIS UNIVERSE SITS UNUSED IN MY 3RD FLOOR BOTTOM FLOOR AND IS USED ABOUT ONCE A YEAR BY MY SON. A sad ending.
I was profoundly surprised to find out that anyone at all even knew about this project.
So much so, that I think I will post on my BLOG, along with photographs, inside and out, along with spinning mechanism (I wonder how much my son is gonna charge me to help with this. LOL, kids today).
Anyhow, oh yeah, I think the guys name was Rob. The inventor. Our relationship was someone tempestuous given his Japanese girl friends' complete and total lack of trust in me, like who is this guy just willing to give you 5K or 10K to build this thing, and well, lets just say we did not part friends, nor enemies and thats sad. Regardless, since I had paid for the whole shebang, I ended up with the prototype. Not for sale, but if anyone finds themselves in San Diego, they are welcome to come over and see it in action.
I have not yet written the BLOG, but I will get around to it in say a week or two from now, so today is um, October 12, 2008, maybe check my BLOG around the 19th or so.
You can also email me at fsegler (at, @) mac.coml, I'd be happy to go down there and take some pictures where it sits as the solitary game in my "game room" which my wife considers an eyesore. Oh well, cant please them all.
Anyhow - IT EXISTS. ITS REAL. I HAVE ONE. ITS located in Rancho Santa Fe, CA. Should anyone care.
