256 DDR vs 128 DDR3

I'm looking at two cards that are identical except for the memory amounts and types. Would 256MB of DDR or 128MB of DDR3 be more benificial. Also, has anyone seen any benchmarks to show the differences between the two configs using the same GPU.

if you want speed and overclock potential the ddr3 is the choice!
For now 256mb is far from essential...
and ddr1 is often in budget card.
