Hello guys, I hope you can guide me a bit with buying my new video card.
I was thinking of a 6600GT, I cant afford much more than that. so the question is, wich one is better? i´ve seen many models from many manufacturers, and the price doesnt vary a lot. ATI is another posibility but I´d prefer to stay with nvidia becouse of the linux drivers, unless i get something much better for the same price.

my mobo is a MSI RS480M2-IL, with the ATI radeon express 200 chipset, and a winchester 3000+

hope you can help me, thanks in advance.

Budget wise the 6600gt is good choice....but
you can shop for a x850pro (frequently on sale these days)
it also depend if you are nvidia gamer(doom) or ati gamer(hl2)
Performance vary a lot from game to game...
performance vary a lot by o/c and tweak.

P4 530 asus p5gd1 O/C AI n.o.s
Dual Channel 1gb DDR400 3-3-3-8
Msi NX6600le MOD 8x1,3vp 375/533
and pushing on...-

If you are set on a 6600gt, get 1 with a custom cooler, the reference cooler is way loud 4 my liking...
If u go the ATI route, the 800GT/GTO, similar price but same-to-higher performance & overclocks well...

Trust me I know what I'm doing... ooops, grab the cat...

I c, I think I'll go for the 6600GT becouse I'm planning to play mostly nvidia games, and becouse of the linux drivers.

I've seen a couple of manufacturers in my country but mostly MSI and Asus, wich one is better and why? or is it the same?
thanks for your replyes

I own a asus gf4ti4200 (kids computer overcloked 300/600)
and a msi nx6600le (overcloked 375/533 unlocked 8 pipes)

Prefered the msi great software bundle**no noise**easy and faster driver download** and if you are not in overcloking msi has d.o.t(automatic overclocking).

I would choose msi ......... NX6600GT-TD128E
or even better msi.......... NX6600GT-VT2D128E Diamond
come with advance panel control software core cell.
