I am in the process of buying a new video card and I have been out of the loop for a while.

Here is my system so far:
Epox EP-9NPA+
AMD 64 3700+
Gig ram blah blah blah

You get the idea....I am trying to keep everything reasonably priced. I am between a 6600gt pci-e or something else.... I was looking at the X800's etc..
I guess my question is what is the best card for my money in the 150-185 buck range....

Thanks in advance!!

X800GTO if you can find one in that price range.

The GTO's have major overclocking potential, but only the GTO2 seems to be flashable. You can buy the GTO and send it to Wusy so he can cut, solder, jump, pencil, etc. and try to bypass the hardware lock. He's dying to try it. Even so, the GTO is a nice card for the money.

NV's not currently competing in that segement as ATI has been swamping the $150-200 range lately while NV seems to be drying up and enjoying ruling the high end. They need a PCI-e 6800 or 7800 series card for under $200 for people wanting more than a 6600GT. ATI X800 pro's are now under $200 in PCI-e and the GTO a little cheaper. I'd grab a X800 pro if I needed a $200 PCI-e. Actually, I did just build one with a BBA X800pro Vivo; nice card. Doing well with a 19" LCD running 12x10 native resolution in HL2, Farcry, NFSU2, AOE3. And video in is a nice bonus and works well.
