I finally had some time to finish a Centipede resto. I de-converted a hack
job back into a centi.

I started a 2 player game only to have player 2 flopped. (cocktail mode)

I noticed on the J to C adapter that there are three solder points for what
looks to be a jumper for cocktail and upright.

I sent a note off to Steven asking about it. I guess he misunderstood my
question. He told me to remove the jumper. My question to him was: Is there
supposed to be pins and a jumper. I wanted to verify before I made my own
jumper.

Can anyone verify that there is indeed a jumper. If so, I *assume* I jump
the two most right points where it is labeled UR.

Anyway...

If anyone is interested, here are some pics of the resto:

When I picked it up: (should have run screaming)

My arcadeshop centi adapter does have a 3 pin header there
but no jumpers on it. I would just jumper it each way and see
which one works correctly.

Nice Job Tom! You deserve an "E" for effort, that was a pretty deep
de-conversion with cab damage to boot.

Nice job! I like the idea of building a mold to get the Bondo on bottom
corners perfect. When I did mine I 'eyeballed' it and it took several
iterations of Bondo and sanding to get it near perfect.

One suggestion I found worthwile, Home Depot sells formica countertop
material and the black is very close to the original kickplate laminate
found around the coin door. I bought an inexpensive router attachment
and small bit for my Dremel, flipped the formica over, and used a
straight edge to cut out a new piece. Removed the old laminate, filled
holes, and glued the new piece on with paneling adhesive. Cut out a
hole for the repainted coin door, assembled, and it looked new!

Beautiful restoration!

Question, whose CPO did you use? Yours looks like it has just the
right texture/shine to it. I've seen some repros that look too shiny
and kind of "off."

Thank you.

I picked up the side art and CPO from a friend. I'll have to ask him where
he got them.

I did the same thing on a Galaga that had been kicked and messed up the
front kickplate at some point in it's life. Applied some new front art and
it came out really nice. This also covers any lock bar holes you may have
too and you won't have to deal with filling them. You can get cheap smaller
laminate pieces at Home Depot that work pretty well for the black and
they'll take a much better beating over a lifetime. I think the piece I
picked up was under $20 and maybe $6 or $7 for the adhesive. A very cost
effective and easy way to clean up a cabinet and keep it as close looking to
new as you can.
