Can someone give me an idea how much this might be worth? Would I be
committing sin converting it to a MAME cab?....

Crazy Kong Junior upright. WORKS. Monitor still bright and crisp. All
sounds work. Original joystick is flaky, but still working. Side art
is painted, but looks like Donkey Kong, not Jr. Marquee says "Crazy
Junior. Has one coin slot working, the other is missing the coin
dtector thingy. It looks pretty good, for a 23 year old machine. I got
it for my 21st birthday in 1991 from a buddy of mine. I never asked
where he got it from. I recently dragged it out of storage. I was
going to convert it to MAME, but what little info I can find about it
says that it's pretty rare, especially in the States.

If I can borrow a camera, I'll link some pictures.

Thanks,
DJ

Take some pics. I've never seen it and would love to see that it looks
like working.

There was a cocktail one on ebay last week, iirc had some issues but
mostly worked, went for $108.

hmmm, can't find the link now. We were discussing buying it over on
the mame board because we need the board to dump it for mame.

No, but you might consider selling it and obtaining a better cab with a more
MAME friendly-sized control panel. Not that I Mame games but thats one
hell of a restricted area to plop controls.

That may not mean anything, that could just be the set it was based off
of. If it says Donkey Kong JR on the title screen though, then it
probably is just a bootleg dkjr. A pic of the board would be
interesting.

Would you consider loaning your pcb so it could be dumped? Would be
cool to see it added to mame....Just a thought

I've been looking into this some more. What I see in my game looks
exactly like the MAME rom for the Japenese bootleg dkongjrb. It's got
the "whole name" hi score list instead of the 3 initials. It also
powers up with the same names in the hi-score list.

Looks like I might have one of those black market machines.

I'll try to get some pics. I'll have to beg/borrow/steal a camera.

I had a couple of bootleg Donkey King Jr boards over the years. They come
in a number of different setups. I've had a two board set that looks like
the real Nintendo boardsets with a screened pic of Jr on it and some that
were smaller one board setups. All the bootlegs I've had have had the audio
amp built on-board and the video signals were not inverted so they could
swap into any vertical machine that was wired correctly. The two board
setup used the same pinout as DK Jr but the one board setup had a unique
pinout IIRC. So it seems there are quite a few bootlegs out there that will
run DK jr in some variant.
