Welcome screen

I have a friend who is having problems with her computer. When she boots,
she gets the blue welcome screen and nothing else. No taskbar, no mouse
pointer, exc. She can't even bring up the task manager. The Welcome screen
just sits there forever without going anyplace.

When she reboots, the same thing happens. She tried going to chkdsk. It
showed some corrupted spots on the disk, which supposedly was corrected.
When she rebooted... the Welcome screen was back with nothing changed.

If you have any suggestions I can tell her, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks...

Helen

Can your friend boot the computer in Safemode?? If so, try doing a
system restore back to the last known good configuration. Either that
or do a virus scan.

Hope that will help!

She did go to safe mode and ran all her protection. Same thing still
happens.
