I was wondering if anyone knows of any problems with nVidia's GeForce 2 chip and the Athlon processor. Someone made mention to me that there were some compatibility problems with the two and I have not been able to verify this. Any help would be appreciated.

Is it a slotA athlon or a socketA t-bird? The GTS was supposed to be optimized for the slotA athlon but there were still a few probs with it on certain mobos, especially the FIC and the BTC brands. The t-bird should have no probs with the GTS. If it's a t-bird than you might try updating to the most recent drivers. If that doesn't solve your probs than it is most likely a faulty card.

In the early days of the atlon(slot-a) some of the first motherboards with the kx133 had some issues. I believe it was related to the chipset not supplying enough power to the AGP port for the power hungry geforce cards. Those same motherboard have since been revised, and for the most part dont have the issue anymore.

The issue isn't a factor in the newer socket-a tbird/duron motherboards. Althouhgh you may need to up the I/O voltage to 3.5 from 3.3 for added stablity as i did with my geforce 2 mx.

I totally agree with dravic... this was just a power issue
