I think one of those has gone for over $10K before. There are literally
only a dozen or so that were made for the contest. I'm sure Google can give

Even as someone who has been an enthusiastic collector of all things
NES-related since the system's launch, I simply can't see how anyone
can justify spending that much on one of those carts.

By the way, there are 116 of those carts in circulation. 90 gray carts
were given to World Championship finalists, and 26 golden carts were
given away in a Nintendo Power contest. I'm quite surprised that the
one on eBay (which is the less desired, gray cart) is currently at over
$6k. I saw a few of these come up for auction during my time of
running NESfan.com, and they always finished off at around $1400 or so.
