I've just had to return a 3Com wirelses 11b/g card after 3 unsuccessful
months to get it to run properly in my Dell Inspiron laptop, even with help
from 3Com and a replacement card. The card would work perfectly under
Windows Me and also at 11Mbps under Win XP Pro. But if I tried to run it at
54Mbps under XP Pro it would freeze the laptop at random intervals,
sometimes minutes apart and sometimes hours.
I now need to get another 11b/g card that will hopefully be more compatible.
I was all set to order a Netgear WG511 (I have a Netgear DG834G router) when
I happened upon the WL-107g card from Asus. Link here -
It seems to be very up to date (no mention of draft 11g specs) and the blurb
reads quite well but I can find no reviews or commentary about it other than
Asus' own words. Price is comparable with the Netgear one, which has mostly
had positive comments but seems to possibly be an older design. Does anyone
have any experience or opinions of this Asus card?
