GF2 GTS problem. Please help

My friend bought a generic GF2 card. After putting it in his new system, it appears to work fine in games and such, but the system won't shutdown. He has narrowed it down to the video driver, because it starts having this problem after installing the driver that came with it. Because it is generic, it came with the Detonator 3 6.31 driver. I have heard that this is an unstable driver sometimes, but what other driver can he try? This is why I stick to brand name stuff. My Asus V7700 deluxe works great! Any help appreciated.

Well..best way seems to be trytrytry! Personally I think 6.35 is quite stable, and that's what I use both in 2K and 98.
