I have a new Toshiba laptop with built-in 802.11g wireless interface
in addition to the Ethernet port. I am running WinXP MCE. I have a
proxy server with one NIC connected to the Internet via cable modem
and the other NIC connected to a 10/100 switch for the rest of the
devices in the house. I have a wireless access point connected to the
switch to provide wireless access to three laptops and one desktop.
The other two laptops and the desktop have no problems accessing the
Internet.
The Toshiba behaves as follows:
Only Ethernet port active: No problems
Ethernet port and wireless port active: No problems
Only wireless port active: Sometimes works great but usually times
out
When the wireless port is the only active connection, there are no
issues with accessing other devices on the LAN...only the Internet
causes problems. So I suspect the problem is a routing table issue
and not a radio issue.
