Gauntlet with no sound - part II

A while back I posted on here about a Gauntlet II cab I have that fails the
diagnostics with "sound processor not responding"
This also stops you adding coins as the code that keeps track of the credits
uses the same system apparently.

Anyway , to get back on track I've now got hold of a Gauntlet I board which
was apparently working but gives exactly the same problems.

What would you say is more likely?
I've managed to find a second board with the same fault , or there is some
problem on the cab itself causing this?

My gauntlet is setup for FP and is also in storage at the moment, so I
cannot poke into it for you.

Possible 1:

Assuming there is a coin up sound when you pop a quarter in, and
assuming you have a stuck or wrongly wired coin switch that is
signaling a stuck coin, that could cause your problems. Try unwiring
both coin switches and then boot it up.

Possible 2:

Bad ground wiring in the cabinet.

Possible 3:

Missing voltage. Use the pinout to make sure they are all making the
way to the board connector. If you find one missing, work your way
back.

No , no sound at all.
Inserting coins (or triggering the mechanism) doesn't do anything. The game
still shows zero credits.

Multimeter time

Multimeter time again.

Have a guess what I shall be doing tomorrow. :0/
Thanks

It isn't.

Hmmm , I've tried the sound CPU (6502) from my Roadblasters and that made no
difference.
I saw there is also a Yamaha YM2151 in there which is an audio chip so I'd
fished them out , cleaned and re-seated but that made no difference.

I'll have to have a look and see which ones the RAM chips are and see if I
can swap them between boards to eliminate that as a cause.

I seem to have correct and stable voltages for the ground , +5v , + and -
15v wires onto the main board.
Odd thing is that my cabinet seems to have an extra wire going to a pin that
is labelled as empty on the schematic which is at 5v.

The other possible oddity is the + and - V sense wires. The - sense is
nearly at 0v while the + sense is 5v. Are they referring to -sense as a
ground rather than a -ve voltage?
