I was looking at buying nintendo famicom with the disk system, but it is the
PAL version from Hong Kong. I was wondering if there is some way to use
this on a NTSC tv. It doesn't have composite outputs but there is someone
who is selling them modded with composite output. Does anyone know how to
get the composite output or use it on a usa NTSC TV

Thanks, Mike

Some of the new lcd's run Pal natively. (sharp Aquos does)

Although, for the price i paid it doesn't have run HDTV or work as a
computer montior well. 1 out 3 isn't bad.... its horrible. Thank you
sharp.

I question whether or not that is an original. As far as I know, the disk
system was only sold in Japan. There are Famicom clones all over Asia, but
this is the first I have heard of a disk system clone (if that's what it
is). If it is somehow the Japanese version, it is easy to use on a cable
channel (92 or 100+ IIRC) with an NTSC TV.

A PAL Hong Kong version might work on an older TV with vertical hold
control, but without a convertor you will get a washed-out, color alter
signal (that may roll). If the set-up is cheap enough, buy it for the disk
system and keep your eyes open for a Japanese Famicom. Not overly expensive
and NTSC compatible. The disk system is definitely the harder one to find.

At this point, find a tv thats pal. You did the hard part finding one.
It's much easier to get a pal tv and go it that way. I RARELY see them.
When they do show up they are very spendy.

my 2 cents.

the two on ebay are 50$ and 100$ both are missing AC adaptor. Still
very spendy for just a floppy drive and a packaged controller card for
the nes hardware. both in japan so 50$ shipping ontop of that. Now i
wonder if some TV cards can take the PAL singal and reconvert it.
hmmmm...

I would suggest a multi-system vhs system. You can use it for inputs and
have the outputs for whatever system you need.
