from cheap to best 1-2 are about same
1gforce2 mx
2gforce 256 sdr
3gforce 256 DDR
4gforce 2 Gts
of course the 64 meg is better than a 32 but
i am assuming you go for the better one in some cases this dont matter i think a gforce 2gts 32 is btter than a 64meg gforce 256.
5gforce 2 gts/pro
6 gforce quattro(more like a professional card here )
7 gforce 2 ultra (best gamers board)

I believe they are almost the same (like GF2 GTS 32mb and 64MB). In some benchmarks one does best and in a different benchmark the other does better. I think those were in pricing terms anywhwere

YOU GUYS ARE BOARD!!!

Watch for 3Dfx this spring and wait 'til the fall!!!

Hey I'm a Nvidia guy. But doesn't look like you'll see Nvidia being able to get a lot out this spring and they will have a real challenge this fall. Let's see if they are up to the challenge. By the way this is if 3Dfx can deliver!!!

Now go play a game will ya!!!11

how/why is Geforce256 32MB SDR better than Geforce2MX 32MB SDR???
no, GeForce2mx is BETTER than GeForce256 SDR.
GF2mx's price is lower and the performance is on par with GF256 SDR

Its better because they both use sdr memory and the gforce 256 has 4 pipelines compared to the mx's higher clocked 2 pipelines.....however real world the mx is replacing the gforce 256 and has almost same performance

The Geforce 256DDR is CHEAPER than the MX SDR because it is older, Grizzly. I can get one from CompGeeks for $100! There's your proof. Don't bother arguing-look and see for yourself. I can get the same card w/tv-out for $120, the same price as a MX w/SDR and tv-out! But how much better does it PERFORM?

Sorry, the Geforce256 is more money than the MX. I can get an MX for $87. And things aren't cheaper just cause they're older. The Pentium3 1GHz is older than the Thunderbird 1.2GHz, but it's not cheaper. Heck, it's twice as much!

The MX is the cheapest card, money wise. The MX and 256 perform the same though.

Can you capture video on the MX? I know that you can capture video on the 256. I haven't seen Mx's with any video inputs. If you can't, what's the cheapest way to capture MPEG 2 video?

Well it depends on if your mobo is agp x4 compatible and if it's a Intel chipset board.Coz if it's VIA or ALI forget it the incompatibility problems are clear to see.Get a Radeon.
32meg DDR.

It doesn't look like 3dfx is going to be an issue anymore, since nvidia bought them out. Maybe that hadn't happened yet at the time you wrote that though. ;-)
