This is my system configuration:

Abit VT6X4 Motherboard
Celeron A 500 (7.5x66)
128 Megs of Ram (Running at 100 mhz, Cas 2 and Turbo Timing)
Voodoo 3 3000 AGP
13 GB 7200 RPM Harddrive
56x Affrey CD-Rom
Soundblaster 128 PCI

I want to increase performance without replacing my motherboard, what should i but that will increase the performance, preferrably only one thing. Thanks for the opinions in advance.

well a video card w/ t&l would do the job. ATI radeon 32mb ddr is a good buy.

Perfomance?

games? software?

games = video card

software = CPU (check you mobo book or Abit website for what your board supports)

Well, the CPU is kinda the bottleneck- go with something simple like a GeForce DDR or GF2 MX.

I suppose your motherboard support 100Mhz FSB as you run your RAM at that frequecy.
You might try upping the FSB from 66 to 100Mhz. Just remember to set your multiplier (assuming that it isn't locked...I don't know that much about Celerons...) to 5.
This way it won't be overclocked and your system will be running a bit quicker...absolutely free.
Overclocking is also a good thing if you want even better performance at a "low" cost...;-)

If you plan on purchasing a GeForce2 GTS (or faster) you should definitely set your bus speed at 100Mhz.
Otherwise your new graphics card will be waiting for a slow system, preventing it from showing its muscles.

All celerons have there mulitpliers locked. I of course cannot overclock mine to 750 mhz, so that doesn't help. Although you do have a valid point about my 66 fsb..... i'm still up in the air as to what to do :)

Gawd, you need a new video card for D3D, a new processor because your's won't overclock, your motherboards sucks to begin with...Sell it and buy a new system!

What's the frequency, Kenneth?

yeah I would sell it all and get a new machine. Might want to avoid celerys and Duronimos. Go with an Athlon or a PIII.

I like to turkey!?!
