Hi, I'm new to the forum but have been looking at the site for answers for years. Thank you Tom's Hardware members!

Anyway, I currently have an Asus G53 laptop with a i7 740QM, 8gb of 1333 RAM, and a 460m GTX. I've been having trouble with it lately and I'm thinking about upgrading to a new laptop. I'm looking at either a Sager NP9170, an Alienware M17x, or an M18x. I want to make this laptop as future proof as possible. My question is should I wait to upgrade when Maxwell GPU's come out? I'm at least waiting for the next gen of Kepler GPU's since we are seemingly not far from their launch.

Also, are SSD's really worth it? I have a 128gb crucial SSD in my current laptop. It doesn't seem worth the money to me.

If you keep waiting for the latest you'll never get a new machine. If you have had enough of your current one, get a new one :)

Like Sager better myself (plan to go that route when current laptop dies).

Guess it's a matter of taste but I'll never go back to a HDD having used an SSD. Even a 7200rpm laptop drive is just sluggish.
