Hey folks,
I acquired another Asteroids this weekend and was trying to get it
going. I couldn't get it to do anything except flash the Player 1 and
Player 2 buttons and a dot in the center of the screen. Test mode
brought up a black screen but did hear the "plink" when a button was
pushed.
I went looking around at the volatges and found the voltages coming out
of the power supply in the bottom of the cabinet were higher than spec.
The following voltages were taken from connector J5 on the power supply
and verified at the PCB as well.

Locations Spec voltage actual voltage
pins 1,2,3 10.3VDC 13.8VDC
pins 6,7 36VAC 42.5VAC
pins 11,13 65VAC 71.9VAC

Questions:

1. How can I lower the voltages so they fall within the proper
voltage.
2. Is the voltage high enough to damage the PCB?

I got the game up and running with a new power supply from another game
that puts out the correct voltage, different PCB (now that I have a
game up and running I found out that the one that came with it needs
repair) and monitor deflection PCB.

3. Wondering if the voltages knocked the PCB or Deflection PCB out?
I have two more project Asteroids games to get running and will fix the
Deflection and game PCBs but want to fix the power supply if needed
too!

Please help....be nice-very new at this and my first vector attempt

Thanks!!
Ted
