Get the same error that others mention when trying to install Adobe updates
or MSN Messenger or other updates -- that Windows Installer cannot be
accessed, may be running in safe mode, etc.

Downloaded Installer 3.1 but didn't help. Tried suggestions from microsoft
to clean up, but didn't work either.

Help?

Installer only runs for a brief time by default(2-3 min),you can download or
have cd ready to run, then go to run, type:services.msc In msc, scroll down to
windows installer, double click on it,in properties, set to auto run from
manual it
is now in,then start the service, close out.By the way,if its ever
upgraded,you'll
need to reset as by default,it goes back to manual.
