Upside down WG4900 in Joust

I have a Joust machine, with a WG4900 that has some purity issues.
I've tried degaussing, etc. but on a red screen, the right side goes
to purple, and the left side goes to orange.

There is something wrong with the width coil, so I'm going to put a
new one in and do a cap kit while I'm in there, but I noticed the
monitor is actually mounted upside down. The anode is towards the
ground and the "Warning" text on the neckboard is upside down as well.

But, the picture is correct -- not upside down.

I wonder if this could have something to do with the purity issues?

Nope, it you want to mount it the correct way, and then have the
monitor picture right side up, you'll have to swap the yoke wires. I
don't recall if the 4900 had a connector for the yoke wires flipping,
but do a google search on "swapping yoke wires", and it should yield
the answers you need.

The purity and color issues *may* go away when you flip the monitor,
but YMMV.

The orientation of the tube shouldn't have any bearing on the purity (unless
it was jarred by the person who swapped in the new tube).

It sounds like someone put a new tub into the frame that you have and stuck
it in upside down by mistake. Odds are they messed with the purity so now
you have to fix it.
