has anyone done anything different or unique to their game room
ceilings?
i should be drying my game room in by the end of oct and wanted to see
what you folks have done.
i found some blacklight carpet at kidscarpet so im good there, but i
want to do something different w/ the ceiling.
im still unsure about the walls too. i don't have any interest in
drywall.

Take a look at this:

This company is literally right down the hill from me. I _WISH_ there
were enough interested folks to do a Pac-Man or Asteroids or...? theme.

If there is interest from enough folks, let me know - I have enough contacts
from my bar-owning days that I could approach with a proposition.

Guaranteed it won't be cheap - short runs never are.

I sprayed my gameroom ceiling black - left everything exposed (no
ceiling tile) - shot the copper pipes, wiring, everything. It looks
awesome. That's one of the compliments I commonly get.

I have some pictures I think at www.popbumper.com, they are quite
dated. The latest shots of my gameroom was on the cover of November
2004 GameRoom Mag. If you have that one, it shows the ceiling pretty
well.

Paint was Wal-Mart Exterior Acrylic Flat in "Coal Mine" color. I rented
an industrial sprayer and away I went. Results were fab!

EL tape. That guy made a tron outfit with it. Shouldn't be too hard to
decorate the celing with it. The only issue would be cost. Im not sure
how much per a 6inch by 1/2 section would cost. Someday i'll decorate
an arcade and have it glow with EL/ plastic (instead of glass) lcd type
display technology.

Cheap option is blacklights and glow in the dark paint/white paint with
one of the deturgents (tide was it? not sure) that some one mentioned
it.

you can use any deturgent with a "whitener" in it... all it is is
phosphorous.

I painted everything black (walls, ceiling, and floor). Then, I painted
vector game graphics on the ceiling and some of the wall cabinets. All
it takes is some painter's tape and white paint. (Other colors if you
want to do color vector graphics.) Took the better part of a day to
tape everything off and do the painting, but I think the results are
worth it.

Plenty of pics on my web site. My ceiling was already drywalled, of
course, but you could probabaly do something similar on a drop ceiling
if you go that route.

Something I'm planning to do (someday) is to build a narrow shelf just
below the ceiling, and run my Lionel "O" gauge trains around the perimeter
of my arcade room.

It'll allow me to setup my trains, which have been in storage for 30+ years,
and add a bit of character to the room.

Now that is a cool idea....

The wife is going to think I'm nuts if I do the Asteroids graphics on
the ceiling and walls...

oh wait, she already thinks I'm nuts....

Steve,

I've always always always wanted to do that!

I wanted to even cut a hole into the wall and paint a mountain on the wall
for the train to go through. I forgot all about that. get us some pics when
you do it.
