I am looking for a new card. Seen a few I had my eye on but noticed they were DDR. Would that mean my mobo and RAM have to be DDR or does it not matter? For example:
Just like pill said. DDR on the video card refers to the pathway between the video chip and the video memory on the card, and has nothing to do with the rest of the system.
1x, 2x, and 4x refer to the maximum number of bits per clock cycle that are transfered to the AGP bus. Being that the AGP bus is 64 bits wide and runs at 66MHz, 1x is pretty fast, but 2x is twice as fast and 4x is 4 times as fast, at peak throughput (which is never really reached).
