Windows changes from Classic to XP

Hi
This problem has been bugging me for some time now, and I cannot find the
answer. I have tried in other Help Forums but have been unable to solve the
issue. It's no big deal, but I would dearly like to find an answer.
My computer runs WinXP Home SP2, and I prefer to view Windows in the
'Classic' style as opposed to Windows XP Style. ( It may be something to do
with my age, over 70).
Every now and again, perhaps once a month or so, I switch on the computer
and everything is showing in Windows XP Style. I go to Display
Properties/Appearance/Windows Buttons/and change it to Windows Classic
Style. For some unknown reason every few weeks, it changes itself to Windows
XP Style. Can someone tell me why Windows prefers to run 'XP' style, and not
'Windows Classic' style.
I have gone to Performance/Settings/Visual Effects/Unticked 'Let Windows
choose what's best for my computer/ticked Custom and unticked 'Use visual
styles on windows and buttons'. That didn't stop it reverting back to WinXP
style. It has just done it again this morning. I haven't installed anything
or had any updates in the last couple of days.
I know it's no big deal, it's easy to change, but every time it does it, I
think 'now why has it done that?' Someone put me out of my misery, 'Why did
it do that?'

Tony,
Is there anyone else in the house who may be using your computer
occasionally?

Outside of that, you may want to look at your other software in the event
that something from one of them causes the system to reset defaults.

Thanks Jamie for the reply.

No, there is only me that uses the computer, and I have searched for any
other software (that I am aware of) that could alter the set defaults. It
has been happening ever since I got this computer, new from Dell, my
previous computer, never had this problem and I am running the same
software.

If it is a new Dell, I think you can call their support number for free
while under warrantee. Ask them if they have a setting that may cause the
system to revert to the default from your preferred classic setting.

I have the same problem and also haven't found an answer to it. If I
logout and log back in (without shutting down or changing anything) I do
get the Classic style.
