Hello, I am trying to setup a router on Windows XP Pro, it's a Belkin 802.11g
Wireless DSL/Cable Gateway Router. I think the problem is windows won't
recognize the router. Want to use it as a hardware firewall. When I try to
go online it says there is no connection to the internet. I tried to go into
start>run>ipconfig. to see my IP address and that is where my question comes
in: the box pops up for a minute and then disappears before I can see
anything. Anyone have any info on this? Thanks in advance for any
information. Everyone here is always very helpful.

Go to the Belkin's website for support.

In the run dialog box you should type

cmd /k ipconfig /all

Have you tried pinging the router?

"Not able to establish a connection to the router or access the Internet."

ahhh, you guys always have the answers... thanks. I was getting frustrated I
guess and not doing things right. As William wrote I wasn't entering cmd, I
feel pretty foolish! :-( No I hadn't tried pinging it either. I will go
back and start again with the Belkin setup guide in front of me and then let
you all know how I make out. Thanks again for all the help. This is always
my favorite place for information. :-)
P.S. sorry for the extra symbols in my entry I was trying to shorten the
paragraph by using the symbols didn't realize they would show up like that.
