I want to build a webserver for a small home office, (very small)hosting fewer than 5 sites, may expand later.

What kind of graphics ard would you recommend?

All help/advice/relevant opinions appreciated.

thanks,

Lynne

Since you're not using demanding 3D apps, I think any kind of AGP card with 32Mb of memory (SDR or DDR) would do. And since this is a very small server for home office use, you basically need fast data transfers and large storage space. So DDR memory is good along with IBM's DeskStar 75GXP series of HDDs.

Anyone else has an opinion on that?

Something simpler like an 8mb video card may even suffice if you want to be careful about cost.

Buy a board with integrated graphics, but make sure it is a mainstream graphics chip that you can get drivers for (now and in the future). Many 815E based boards have onboard graphics, or for a real server board (with integrated SCSI, Ethernet, etc..) look at something based on the ServerSet III LE chipset which will have onboard 4MB ATI Rage graphics. Both Intel and Asus have boards that use the SeverSet chipset.

BTW: I wouldn't recommend anything with integrated 3Com ethernet because of compatibility issues with some switches.
