Hi

My Rig

Athlon 2500XP+ Barton FSB running at 9.5x200/1900mhz
Radeon 9800Pro
1024MB DDR400
Soundblaster Live 5.1
XP Pro

At the moment when booting up i get a hung black screen perhaps 1 in every 10 boots.

Any idea what would cause that?

Thanx

give us a lil more detail . when did you start getting this error? after you fixed your graphics card problem? what happens after the black screen? is it still on or does it turn off?

there are lots of ideas, but which one would help you depends on what kind of details you will provide ;)

Changed to cat 3.7 from cat 3.5.
This lowered my 3dmark2001 score so i changed back.
Since then i have had this problem.
Booted my pc this morning and once again the same.
Rebooted again and had option of safe mode.
So rebooted using last good config.
Had to reinstall latest sound drivers for my soundblaster and cat 3.5.
I am working now so will check it again later.

Thanx

I think he's referring to the ATi Catalyst driver set.

I have a similar problem with my comp. Every once in a while when I perform a warm reboot (shut down, restart comp), I'll just get a black screen. I hit the reset button and the machine boots fine without a glitch. Kind of odd... but unless it gets really bad, I'm not too concerned about it.

well, if so, then you have to decide between having "bigger" 3dmark score, or just hit that reset button all the time, it is up to you then, not a big deal to decide.
