A couple of issues.. [Switch Users] [Startup Resolution]

User switching
-I can't switch users. I tried doing a registry fix, but now it just
locks the computer instead of switching users. Before the 'fix', it
just wouldn't do anything if you tried to switch users. And then a
little later after this issue, the welcome screen is not to be had.
It's stuck to where you have to type in your name and password. Help?

Startup resolution
-I don't know why, but my computer starts up at 800x600 resolution. I
recently tried installing an ATi XP fix, but I did a system restore
after I found out it didn't solve an issue I was having with a video
game. Yes, I can change my resolution to what I want it at (1280x960),
but it just won't save. =(
