Sharereactor.com has just posted the Doom 3 E3 Demo. I haven't finished downloading it, but needless to say I'm pumped. I hope it works.

Make sure to read the .txt file before trying to play.

Also, you will need the edonkey server which you can get at edonkey2000.com

what do you have in your rig? just wondering cause I don't want to dl this thing and have it run like crap.

It's always darkest just before it goes pitch black.

I agree. I don't know why, but I've only got like 86mb downloaded. Oh well.

Please tell us your specs so we can get an idea of how much juice this game needs.

The only bad thing of the demo is that it needs a monster system to run good. My pc is crap, but a friend has a 2gig athlow with a radeon 9700pro and he gets 10-30 fps.

I believe that it is still too early in development but even so you can see some nice things like the high poly models (humans) and the lightning system.

I think the game will be great once it comes out.

Defeat only makes me wiser

That's just great! I'm getting all kinds of CRC errors when unpacking the files. WHY!!!

So much for the demo.

Is there a way to repair CRC errors?

Nope. It's probably a corruption that occurred during the download process. Although it might be in the files themselves. I have a retail copy of Deus Ex that returned CRC errors every time.

I downloaded it as well. I have a Athlon 1600+/512mb ram/ voodoo 4500.

I could barely run the game. I think I was getting like 1 frame per 3 seconds and at like 16 color. So much for that attempt. Like ZerApio said, don't try it without a monster system. This game is using a new graphics engine that will be pushing the limits of even the newest current video cards. I wouldn't doubt that even final release will show that to run the game at a decent framerate (30fps+) and all the goodies on, you will need a geforce 4 ti - Radeon 9700 and a 2ghz+ machine. :(

Ok nevermind my previous problem I went to share reactor and patched it. Works awesome. Average 50 FPS and my god this game is awesome.

My super rig from my other thread runs this game perfectly at 2048x1600 with roughly 85-100 fps.

Don't forget the duct-tape though.

Liar. I was over at your house last night. When I started the game it was at 1000 FPS so quit acting modest.

What are you unpacking it with? What is the filename / size?

I got it working on my system. the files I got are:
Doom_III-Alpha.0.02-E3.rar = 364 MB (381,781,972 bytes)
and
doom3.e3-demo-alpha-leak.exe = 364 MB (381,781,972 bytes)

Same files, different name. Anybody know where I can get the patch so I dont have to use the consol to start it every time?

Anyhow, this game is AWESOME! even though it puts my system through its paces (1800xp 786mb ram radeon 8500le 64mb) it runs smooth until the enemies start really attacking. But I cant wait to see the finished product, if the ALPHA is this good! Add a soundtrack by Trent Reznor... this looks like a future classic. Hopefully I can beef up my sys before then....

BTW: How do you guys get framerate measurements?

I'm unpacking it with WinAce. It's gotta be something I can fix because it looks like most of you are able to unpack it.

Any ideas what I should try?

I cannot get the doom3.patch_and_commands.ShareReactor.rar file to download. the site must be under a helluva strain cause its been down for the better part of a week.

Anyway I downloaded some other patch and i can get the game to run but i only average 10 or so fps (about 15 till the mosters come then down to 1 to 5 fps).
This patch obviously isnt as good as the ShareReactor patch because my menu isnt working. I'm wondering if i can get the game to run more smoothly with the ShareReactor patch.

Can someone please email it to me. Its only a couple hundred kb. (If you can reply and ill leave my email. I don't want to leave it and end up with a couple hundred emails in my inbox. )

Thank you.
