notepads on desktop

I have a Sony Vaio desktop RX-540 (1.2 cel.)with XP Home. This is a great computor for me. Everytime I boot the computor there are two blank notepad windows that open up. I click the "X" and they are gone. I am tired of having to do this everytime. Any direction would be helpfull. Keith from Los Angeles County California.

Check for notepad shortcuts in the start up folder (start-programs) and delete them.

Also, there is another location in windows where programs can start- I'am not 100% sure but check, run- misconfig and look under the start tab, uncheck the associated box if it is there.
