It's been a while since i last posted anything but i thought i would pop in to say Hi :hello:  and get some advice

I'm looking at getting a new gaming laptop, but i can't pick

The choice is

Alienware m17x
Intel® Core™ i7-3630QM
AMD® Radeon™ HD 7970M
Windows 7
6GB ram which i will upgrade myself to 16GB as Dell charge £200!!! for that
1080 17" screen
500Gb harddrive
Killer N network card

Cost - £1412.10

A Novatech which is a Clevo

Intel i7 3630QM Quad Core 2.4GHZ Processor
AMD® Radeon™ HD 7970M
Windows 7
Screen:17.3" Full HD Screen
16GB DDR3 1600MHz
Samsung M8 1TB 8MB Cache SATA
Optical Drives:8x SATA DVD

Cost £1371.90

Or Medion, not sure what the US version of this is

CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-3630QM processor
Windows 8 with the new Windows® Experience user interface
Memory size: 16GB
Hard disk capacity: 750GB
SSD Capacity: 128GB
Screen size: 43,9 cm (17,3")
Resolution: 1920x1080 pixels
Screen Type: non-glare display
NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 680M DirectX® 11 Graphics
with 2,048 MB GDDR5 memory and digital HDMI® audio/video output
+ NVIDIA® Optimus™ technology

Optical drives:
Blu-ray ROM drive/multi-standard DVD/CD burner
with DVD-RAM and dual layer support

Cost £1364.50

So that's the options

Which would you get? and Why?

Is Windows 8 any good for gaming?

Any thoughts and suggestions welcome

The clevo or medion.

The alienware is more expensive and lower spec.

LEaning toward the medion as optimuis is much better than amd enduro and would probably be worth it performance and battery wise.

Thanks for the advise, good to know, is there anything else on the market that is worth a look at?

I did see a Samsung gaming 7 laptop but it only had a 675m for about the same money as the Medion so didn't think it was worth it

Defintely not then.

I'm not too clued up on gaming lappy's but they seem alright for the money.

Try these guys and spec something up with a Nvidia GPU.

Thanks for the links

This is going to sound a bit stupid but what are the pros and cons to the different screens
i can select Gloss, Matt or High Gamut?
Is High gamut worth the extra money?

Not really unless your doing photoshop work or something that needs very high color accuracy.
