NEED SERIOUS HELP!!
Just installed a Leadtek Winfast GTS 2 32Mb card and when restarting Windows 98, the Windows startup screen just stayed there for minutes, but it wasn't frozen, since the bottom color bar was moving as normal. When I pressed ESC to see the drivers loading, the last line said that my Creative Labs Live!MP3 was loading, in its usual IRQ10. But it didnt load Windows at all, just stayed there, for minutes.
I changed the slot (it was on the 4th slot) to the 2nd PCI slot, but still, same problem.

BUT, when I removed the Live! card completely, Windows loaded normally and I was able to install the drivers w/ no problems.

I haven't tried other slots for the Live! card, but I will now, but I wanted to post this so someone could shed some light into this issue.

Again, thanks for all the assistance!

Sys config: Duron 750; A7V (rev 1.02); 256Mb; SBLive! MP3; IBMGXP 75Gb.

PS: What if I tried to reassign a different IRQ? How can I do this and, since I can't boot Windows w/ the Live! soundcard on, how can I do this? ;(

I have the same set up as you only a t-bird 750. so it should work. Try booting into safe mode. Hold the f8 key while the system is booting. choose to boot with minimal drivers. Check your device properties and see if you have more than one driver loaded for your video card or your sound card. If you do, remove all and reboot.
Also try the newest Via 4in1 and promise drivers from asus.com
Also I use the detonator drivers from Nvidia.com for the gts.

Good luck!

If you can get into safe mode (or when you boot without the SBLive), go to:
Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Information
Expand the Hardware resources folder on the left. Click on IRQs. If your video is on IRQ 10 along with your sound card, you should try forcing it to a free IRQ in the BIOS.

I'm not familiar with the Asus BIOS specifically, but in the Abit BIOS there's a PnP/PCI Configuration section. Enter BIOS using the instructions onscreen when you first boot (usually DEL or F1). Find the section dealing with IRQs and instead of using AUTO, manually set the AGP slot to a free IRQ. If you have no free IRQs, you can disable a serial COM port or parallel port if you don't use them. Save and Exit, then reboot.

Hope this helps
