I'm assembling a new 'puter. So far, I have the accumulated the following:

1gig Tbird (with global win cooler)
Abit KT7A Raid
IBM 30 meg ATA-100
Crucial 256meg CAS2
Plexor 12x10x32 CD/RW
SBLive!
3COM NIC card (ISA)

Now I'm ready to buy the vid card. Sorry ATI fans, I've decided to add a Geforce2 GTS 32 (or maybe 64) mbyte card.

I've been 'warned' that there are supposedly some issues/incompatibilities between the Abit KT7A RAID MLB and some GeForce2 GTS cards (possibly due to not having a linear regulator supplying the AGP slot?)

Thus my question: which BRAND of Geforce card should I buy that will cause the least amount of headaches to install on the ABit?

More about : brand geforce abit kt7a

Nice System!
Sorry, haven't heard about the kt7a problem yet.
My kt7 runs great w/ a Giga GF2 GTS 32DDRsgram (max oc'd!)
Try asking who you heard about the problems from or check the nVidia and Abit sites.
Whatever you do don't go cheap on the video card!

AMD OC'rs Kick Ass!! ;)

Thanks, but I'm looking for recommendations from people with an ABit KT7A MLB and specifically, what Geforce cards they're using and recommend.

I have recently purchased an Abit KT7-100 RAID m'board, and Hercules 3D Prophet II GTS PRO 64Mb DDR card, but they don't want to talk to each other! 8-( I can't get the PC to boot with this card, even though it works in another PC.

I've found a link on another post -
(http://www.icrontic.com/faqs/kt7faq/kt7faq.htm) which has a lot of great info on Abit KT7-100's, including using this (and other Abit m'boards) with certain graphic cards.

I found a page there that informed me (via info from the Guillemot/Hercules support) that the Herc GTS PRO card I purchased specifically for the Abit motherboard does NOT work due to compatibilty issues with the m'board. There is a US phone number to call to exchange the card for a modified one that will apparently work with my graphics card, though this isn't relevant to you!
There is also info on changing the 'driving control' settings in the BIOS which could solve other compatibility issues between m'boards and AGP cards.
I suggest looking at this site for info on certain cards _before_ buying one! I wish I did!

Thanks Rossi... This is exactly the type of info I'm looking for (e.g. user experiences wtih Abit KT7A & specific BRANDS of Geforce cards).

I'd heard about the Herc Pro issue which is why I'm asking the question... to not only help ME decide, but to accumulate info to help others before they buy as well.

1.1 GHZ, KT7-RAID, 512 MEGS MICRON 133 RAM, 2-30.7 IBM DESKSTARS-STRIPING, VISIONTEK GEFORCE2 GTS 64MEG DDR BOARD, SBLIVE MP3+ 5.1 CARD. VIDEO IS AWESOME BUT CAN'T GET THE SBLIVE TO LOAD/WORK. FREEZES SYSTEM DURING DRIVER INSTALL WITH SB16 EMU OFF ETC. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU, I'M GOING TO GET A DIFFERENT MOBO W/O HPT CHIP AND START OVER!!!!!

I know that you are looking at the Pro version, but I thought you would like to know that I have the Guillemont Hercules Prophet II Ultra running with the KT7A-RAID motherboard and it works great.

KT7A is not the problem. Just make sure you have plenty of power, at least 20 amps on the 3.3 V line. Check power supply specs before you buy. Typical 300 w PSU's only supply 14 amps peak. 350 watt PSU's often supply 28 amps peak but check the specs, regardless.
