I recently helpeda friend put a vodoo3 3000 pci graphics card in his HP pentium III system. card is in drivers are loaded and it is working fine except for 3d games in which the computer freezes. the HP has on bord graphics ( intel 810 or something similar) I tried to disable it in bios but it wouldn't let me select "on board video disabled" is there any other way to do disable it or how can I get the option to disable it.
Thanx alot in advance

Disable by using the device manager. Go to device manager in Win9x. Expand Display Adapter and you will probably see two adapters there, the Voodoo and the Intel. Disable the Intel adapter by right clicking on it, properties, and then choosing disable this hardware device in this setup. I am in W2k so it may say something different. If you try to remove the device Win9x will just find it again and you will be in the same situation as before. I was able to configure a friends HP 810 chipset this way with a Voodoo3 3000 pci successfully. Does his board have a AGP slot? Some HP boards have jumpers on them if they have a AGP slot to disable onboard video.

first of all thanx for the advice, I tried removing it from device manager already but your right win 98 re-installs it right away and I haven't seen a "disable" option anywhere.
there is also no agp slot on the board, I assumed there was and found out there wasn't the hard way and that is why he picked up the vodoo3000 pci card. Any other advice would be much apreciated. I am working on finding out if there is a jumper for this option but see none on the board and my friend does not have his manual.
Thanx again in advance

I used to do technical support for the HP Pavillion line of computers. Try giving them a call. I do know on some of the systems falling in the 300 mhz to 500 mhz, the onboard video had to be disabled with jumpers on the MB itself. I can not say if your system is like this so I won't tell you the jumper #'s, but give support a call and they should be able to tell you.

Go to device manager and hilight the onboard vidio. The right click it and select properties or click the properties button on bottom of window. Now look at bottom of the new window and there should be a "disable hardware in this profile" and a "exists in all profiles" Put a check in the disable hardware in this profile and uncheck the exist in all profiles. Hope this helps

Someday I will stop asking all the questions!

Thats the ticket, it will work and work good. Glide games really do fly on a VooDoo like Unreal Tourney.
