I didn't see a section for monitors so I am posting it under graphics. I mostly use the PC for playing games and am building the ultimate gameing system. I am looking for 19". My real question is how important is brand name, I found a KDS .26 dot pitch and 1640x1280 max res for about $250 and a MAG with same spec for about $300. whats the big difference worth so much money? Please advise on what the "best bang for your buck" would be for 19" monitors.

Someday I will stop asking all the questions!

The KDS monitors are good value monitors. I haven't heard much bad stuff about them. Some of them even have trinitron tubes(Sony). Don't get a MAG. I have one...and eventhough it has been decent for 4 years, I am looking at getting a new one. I have also heard that there is no driver support for the MAG. I had to fix mine once...what a pain. You might also want to check out the Samsung monitors. You can get a flat 19" for like $320...and I have only heard good things about them.

there is a forum, Peripherals -> CRT monitors...

I've got a Samsung 19", 955DF, I love it to death... perfect picture, flat, nicely contrasted... I would have to recommend it:)
don't know how much it sells for in the states though...

I'm in love with a 19" monitor - the NEC FE 950, flat screen, just perfect.

The difference in price is in the quality of the components like the electron guns and the phosporus coatings, the better the components, the better the image and the more expensive the price

Don't get the KDS they suck. My dad got one with a Sony tube. Holy crap is it bad. I have had Sony Trinitron 17" for over two years now and I love it. My next monitor will be a Sony. I would recommend going to a computer store and just looking at all the different monitors and using them for a little while each.

I've got two KDS 19" Trinitrons and I think they are awesome. They get 1600x1200 with a voodoo3, so who knows if they can get more, but for around 430 with shipping it's a great deal. Not sure what the other guy had against them, but when I compare them against others, at best buy they have them with other, the KDS rocks.

I have a KDS Avitron 19" flat screen. I love it. 1920x1440 max resolution, .25 ag, 1280x1024 at 100Hz, 1600x1200 at 85Hz.

Why do I even try?
