hi
we just got my little brother a brand new AMD system for Xmas and after one day the thing just dies. So we take it to the shop and they say something other than the PSU is bust and it's probably surge damage. I have two other machines which where unaffected and I wanted to know if it is actually possible to prove that damage was due to a power spike rather than a factory deffect. Any input would be appreciated.
I doubt if there is a way to tell the difference. If I were you my question would be why the vendor of a new PC is ducking its repair and or replacement warranty by making the "surge" argument, or are you asking for just curiosity reasons?
I want to die like my Grandfather...in my sleep...not screaming in terror like his passengers.
