In reading available reviews for high end graphics cards I am left with one unanswered question. Is there a difference in performance between cards used for Games, CAD and Digital Video Editing? I have not seen this mentioned and have been looking for a high end card to work on Digital Video Editing. Suggestions would be welcomed.

Yes... a big difference. Typically, a gaming card doesn't have Digital Video Out or even video out. Also, editing cards have firewire inputs and onboard decoders for MPEG codecs. Now, i'm not saying gaming cards aren't available w/ video out- but most are not available with DVI. The GeForce 2 Ultra comes with DVI standard. To my knowledge, that's the only gaming card that comes with DVI on all cards.

Jesse,
My question concerned the ability of the graphics card to process the video during rendering. The end product would be recorded thru the Firewire cable to the camera and then to the VCR.

You might want to check out <A HREF="http://www.videoguys.com" target="_new">http://www.videoguys.com</A> for some video editing background info. (after you fight through the sales pitch!). From what I can gather, the rendering process is a harddisk/processor intensive task, but it's all 2D for the video card (thus Matrox's success here?). Also, check out the TV/Video Cards and Video Editing boards elsewhere on this forum (if you haven't already).
