geforce2 GTS 64meg

I just got a geforce2 GTS 64meg vid card by Guillemot. I play counterstrike quite a bit, and my fps with my old trident card was like 40-45. With the new card, I'm getting 45-49. That seems like a crappy improvement imo...

Am I expecting too much, or is this card not performing?

At the same resolution and color-bit? Nah, somethings rotten in Denmark.

Just wondering who is counting the frames, you or game? If it is you - then you have an eye bottleneck, if the game tells you this lie, than you are stuck with it, cos games don't think, they just do what they told, which is programmer’s bottleneck in this case… hehe

Post, we'll do the search...

I thing that your cpu is too slow, try this card on a fast cpu and you will see the difference.

Is counterstrike and add on to red alert or tiberian sun or something?

If it is, then the improvement wont be dramatic, though there should be some improvement.

Most of the improvement is in the 3d graphics area.

Use the console in-game to enter "fps_modem" without the quotes, this will tell you what your cap is for on-line gaming. Enter fps_modem 80 to raise your cap if this is the problem. Good Luck, Take-Out. PS: Check out this site for some other commands http://server.counter-strike.net/gencmd.html

I have a tnt2 that gets the same fps in 640x480,x800x600,1024x768. This is because my p3 500mhz can't keep up even with a tnt2.
