Very cool indeed, that is 3dMark2001. My score with default 1024x768x32 is 3296. I used triple buffering vice the default double buffering, plus I overclocked my Radeon to 200core/200mem in mhz that is. Radeon at default clock of 182.59 scored 3096 points. Dx8 tests all ranned except for the Pixel Shader Test which the Radeon was surpose to support. This is one awesome benchmark and MadOnion made a believer out of me in Dx8. The demo was outstanding especially the nature scene of moving limbs, treas, grass, WOW!!!

Here are some mirror sites to download 3dMark2001.

Just ranned 3dMark2001 in W2K and I was much surprised. With a slower Radeon clockspeed of 191.6 I virturally match my WinMe score with a clock speed of 200.25. Anyways I got 3293 plus it looks better in W2K then WinMe. The slight artifacts in the Matrix scene High Detail in WinMe is all cleared up in W2K. Using the most recent ATI official DX8 W2k drivers that came out last week. I am totally surprised and not sure what to make of it.

ok I got a 2093 using double buffer, but an 1908 using triple. This on a machine that got 4990 in 3DMark2000. I did notice that there was no pipeline selection other than Direct3D.

TBird 1000
FIC AZ11
256 Micron cas2
viper 770 ultra 32mb
Win2K SP1 w/DX8a
nVidia 6.67

soooo many benchmarks aren't supported I can tell that this Benchmark is for the GeForce2's. I can't wait to take it home and see how my Quadro2 PRO does on the sprite test.

Since when was Russel Crowe in the Matrix? LOL

So you saw the nature scene? I have a Radeon 64DDR and the latest and only drivers released that support DirectX 8. I am however unable to see it at all. 3dmark2001 says No Hardware Support. (I can't see the pixel shading one as well but what happened to the nature scene?) Any ideas?

800EB pulled off only 3035

Hell I didn't see the nature seen either using a TNT2 or a GeForce2 Ultra. I'll go home and try it on my cracked GF2, but I don't think it'll make a difference. I did see the nature scene in the demo though. Pretty nifty, I think it may be a GeForce3 thing.

The demo nature sceen not the nature benchmark test is what I was referring to. Sorry about the misunderstanding. Well I am totally surprised. I bested my WinMe 3dmark2001 in W2K  .!! 3373 at 198core/198mem (200/200 failed). Plus W2K was a cleaner rendering of the benchmarks. No double images in the High Res Matrix sceen in W2k, smooth throughout. By this benchmark ATI's most recent W2K D3D Dx8 drivers are better than the Dx8 drivers for WinMe. Not sure what to make of this.

Thanks igottaknife but I was referring to Noko. Well it looks like I need to get myself a win2000 cd. Ah that nature seen would have been nice.

What is your processor Noko?

Just reranned 3dMark2001 default test with double buffer in W2k and my score went down slightly to 3337. Believe since I have a 64meg card the extra memory needed for the extra frame buffer won't interfere with textures etc. On a 32 meg card you may end up using slower AGP memory causing your score to drop. Just my theory.

Noko I agree with you in that the double buffering tended to be a little slower then triple on the Radeon 64DDR. I am assuming the drivers are optimized for triple buffering.

You are getting good benchmark scores (or mine suck) my 800EB is at 888 (fsb 148) and my Radeon at 209.25. Nice job.

Also where did you get the 7089 drivers - the latest I can find is 7072?

I really think that the IWILL KK266 AGP is finetuned. I notice that with 3dMark2000 on the high polygon test the IWILL bested other Athlon motherboards with faster cpu's. Plus the IWILL has some of the fastest memory benchmarks for the KT133a chipset boards. I can't seem to be able to go over 200mhz overclock for my Radeon in these test but you can. Do you use cooling or any other secrets?
Also your scores do not suck they seem to be better than average on this benchmark.

Honestly I'm very very lucky. Bought an OEM Radeon Vivo 64DDR and got the 183Mhz version, and it makes 209.25 without any additional cooling on the card. I do have a system blower in the PCI slot next to it. My case does stay very cool however (darn thing sounds like a jet engine). Only have a golden orb on my 888 and it never tops 35C. I'm also getting some ram sinks and a fan tomorrow hoping to reach 215.

Thanks Noko, I do what I can to get those scores.

Lucky you!!! You can get the 7089 drivers at http://www.rage3d.com on their home page.
If you havn't checked out Rage3d.com then you havn't ment the Radeon community. It is huge and most radeon owners seem to congregate there.

Thanks downloading them now!

Wow it jumped to 3216.
I do notice the double images these drivers sometimes make. I never saw any of that with the 7072 drivers.

Hey, thanks Noko. One of the mirrors was faster than the CNET server.

I finally finished downloading 3dMark 2001. Unfortunately my poor Duron and Geforce256 SDR aren't up to the task. I only scored 2260. I ran the benchmark with default settings but am I supposed to have FSAA turned on? If so I am sure that will lower my scores further.

I can't compare my results because www.madonion.com is unavailable.

With 3dMark 2000 I had the highest score with my above combination of hardware. I doubt that will be the case now.

Again, thanks for your help

A great program but very demanding. Especially the high polygon test, appears to me I only get about 1 to 2 frames a sec. Can't tell because madionion's result browser has been down.

noko: A bit off-thread here, but have you had any luck with video capture in w2k with the latest drivers? I saw your initial response over at rage3d, and just wondered if you've overcome the CPU usage problem.

Thanks, BW

the more I learn, the less I'm sure I know...

i got 2540 on a tbird 950 (o/c from 800), 256 pc133, radeon 32ddr on default setting in 3dmark, so i guess thats not bad for my specs. i also got a "no hardware support" for the nature and the pixel shader benches, i heard they kick ass

My name is Mud.

Well I havn't really used video capture in W2k lately, but do use video in alot to watch news mostly while I am online. If you use the W2K 3073 drivers video capture should work fine but then you don't get the better OpenGL/Directx compatibility of the later drivers particulary the 3102. So some people wanting both worlds took the 3102 or 3114beta drivers and copied one of the files from the 3073 drivers that affected MMC programs and seem to have some success with it.
Basically This is what I tried and it did work! If you get the ati2mtag.sys file from the 3073 drivers and copy it into the C:\winnt\system32\drivers folder......
http://rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12297
You might want to try it, with the 3073 drivers I was able to copy megeg2 files at 640x240 with no frame loss on my old machine. Anyways the tread indicates good success with doing this and you might want to check it out. Also ATI indicated that MMC7.2 will be out soon (about a month) hopefully putting this issue to a close for W2k.
