computer name grayed out

i have one computer that for some reason the computer description is grayed
out and i can't change the computer name, was able to change the workgroup
name. i have checked for spyware and viruses. i have spybot and adware
installed. the only user is set for administration comp has xp sp1 on it.
it is my daughters computer.

any ideas?

Boot to Safe Mode (f-8 on restart) and use the default "Administrator" account to change the computer name. It's in the registry at:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ComputerName\ComputerName
