Battery problem on ASUS notebook

I am using the ASUS labtop for last 4 or 5 years..Suddenly my laptop battery didn't get charging.I want to work on AC power only..Battery name noted as ASUSTEKT12-22.Battery shows Critical battery warning & get shut down after 5 minutes.Can i know the reason for this?..Should i want to change my battery?..Guidence please

The laptop is 4, or five years old.
Every lithium battery has a charge life time, over each charging of the battery the capacity to store the charge diminishes, less charge is held by the battery.
Normal life expectancy of the charge life is about 2 to 3 years before the battery can no longer hold a charge.
You need to buy a new replacement battery there is no way around this problem if you wish to use the laptop via a battery, you can pick a new one up via e-bay ect just put the name and model number in of the laptop with battery on the end of the search.
