Depending on the revision of your board, you may need to increase the core voltage to get it stable.

when you run DXdiag, does it pass the graphical tests, does it die when running 3dmark 2001 ???

no-one shouts louder than someone who is being ignored, or in the case of techies, to be heard over the noise of their PC's ;-)

It doesn't crash!! I have passed all the Dxdiag(sound graphic network...) and no one buged and freezed...The same thing for 3dmark2001...I know that the gigabyte have a trouble with the USB2.0,...when you install it, it make crash your computer, but I didn't install it..

What video drivers are you using? Have you tried to download the Catalyst 2.3 drivers for your card?

i have the same unexplained annoying crashes you do,
but i have a different board though, i have an ASUS a7m266,
and to be honest all the catalyst drivers i ahve tried with my radeon didn't help, it keeps on crashing under games...
and till now nobody in the whole community knew what to do about it.
i am hopeless....
i have been told that it may be becasue of registry errors..
did you have a previous card installed before your all in wonder? especially any NVIDIA ?

try reformatting, and use the latest catalysts for your vidcard... radeon cards lack a good "det-destory" typed program; but it could be anything. Just format.

Bah! I re-install the latest driver, Catalyst, on boom! no trouble!! maybe it's just temporaly!!
Thx for the help guy!!

Reply to Systemdw007

That was really temporaly, just 1hour and the crash do it again!! snif!

i know, it feels so frustrating!
and beleive me, no catalyst will help, 2.3 2.1, 2.0,nothing will fu**** help!
i hate my radeon card

Reply to D33

But i don't think it's the ATI video card,..it's more my motherboard,...it crash 1 time on 2,..the bios erase itself!!!!!

I tried running the 8500LE for one week. It gave me BSOD's all the time. Tried clean instal of drivers/OS/catalyst 2.1,2.3,2.3 drivers. Couldn't get it to run. Lots of info at Rage3d Forums if you really want to toy with it.

After week of research on forum, I maybe found the trouble,...my memory, RAM,...I download a small program that test your memory, six offset have to mention: BAD,...so I think that's why I crash everytime I play a game??? true or false??

Reply to Systemdw007

More than likely you've found your culprit. If I were you I'd buy some Samsung memory. I've always found it to be some of the best. I'm not sure what your budget is so I can't really tell you if you should get pc2700 or pc2100.

Samsung memory! If I could have some memory,..but, lucky for me, my pc is still on garanty, so, no charge for the memory,...Maybe I would pay an extra for a ECC ? what dou you thing??

Reply to Systemdw007

ECC actually makes your system a bit slower. I don't think you need it. Just go with the warranty replacement that they give you. hehe.. i forgot all about warranty. *doh*

i have this problem on win2k also...and i've found my culprit to be anti-virus software..read my reply to your post over in "windows 2000" for more details..
Summary:
with anti-virus = games locking pc up.
without anti-virus = smooth gaming for hours.

I've tried with both McAfee and Norton 2003 with the same results... I must find a way to not crash and have virus protection at the same time!!
